The Evidence behind Intermittent Fasting and LCD for Weight Loss

Intermittent fasting has gained popularity over the last couple of years for its potential health benefits and assistance with weight loss. This talk will be discussing the different approaches to intermittent fasting and how patients can use these approaches to assist with weight loss or maintenance. It will also evaluate the evidence behind intermittent fasting diets to provide clinicians with sound evidence as to pros and cons of using these techniques for their patient populations.

About the Speaker

Tonya F. Turner, MPH, RDN, LDN, CSOWM, is a Registered Dietitian and the Associate Director for Clinical Services at the Medical University of South Carolina’s Weight Management Center. Tonya graduated from Purdue University with a B.S. in dietetics. She completed her dietetic internship at Viterbo University, and has since earned a master’s in public health degree from Walden University. Tonya has been certified through the American Dietetic Association in Adult Weight Management. She has also received her board certification in Interdisciplinary Obesity and Weight Management. Tonya has been working and specializing in adult weight management for more than 16 years.
